So, now I’ve got a bunch of drums and at least a couple of synth voices. I’ve been using Veils as a mixer, but I’ve outgrown that now. I do have an analogue mixing desk, but I want something in the rack. And it needs to be good. And I need to be able to build it myself. There was really only one contender. Befaco Hexmix. I had to sell some old gear to buy the kit.
This was a big, heavy build. About 20 hours in total. Very densely packed boards and very tricky to get the panel components lined up.
It really is an awesome mixer though, with 3 band EQ on each of its six channels, which also have pan controls and a gain which overdrives nicely, plus a master EQ. It’s expandable too, with 3 send/returns and direct outs per channel, but that’s for another day…
