I built a passive ring modulator previously using transformers and diodes and it’s nice, but the output is very quiet, so I wanted to try something active.
Pusherman had a PCB/panel for the ARP Ring Mod, so I grabbed one.
It was a super quick and easy build – very few components.
It kinda worked… I later learned that this ring mod is specifically designed to work with the ARP Odyssey VCOs and I needed to apply some offsets to get it to work properly.
It’s a bit of a PITA to patch up to be honest so I’m just gonna build a pair of Odyssey VCOs! More on that later…
