After my first SMD disaster, I thought I’d keep it simple for my second attempt, and picked up a PCB/panel for the Antumbra DIST, a simple diode distortion. I use a lot of distortion in my music so another unit seemed a good idea and this looked like a simple build.
There are a couple of different flavours of diode to choose from for different distortion characters: a pair of small signal diodes (1N4148) and pair of germanium diodes. Not sure which I prefer yet.
Indeed, it was simple enough and worked first time! I’m over my fear of SMD!
