Until now, I’ve been using the noise generator to make my hihats, but that ties up an envelope generator and a VCA, or an LPG, that I can put to better use on synth duties, so a dedicated hihat module has always been on the cards. I’d liked the look of the Mutant Hihats but was put off by the silver panel. I know, it’s stupid, but I’ve kind of committed to this thing now… Anyway, Hexinverter made some black panels so it’s on. I had most of the parts in my spares box, just had to order in a few capacitors.
Loads of components for what’s essentially a quite simple sound. It’s a big, heavy module. But it sounds wicked. Exactly what I wanted from an analogue hihat and this being driven by the Ladik Shuffler is perfect.
