alfa4 VCO Prototyping pt.3

Finally finished the prototype for the quad VCO! This has been the biggest, hardest build I’ve done so far. Building from raw materials always takes longer and this is a pretty big module.

First job was building the remaining two oscillators. I also added some 3 pin headers to my power bus.

Then came the pretty serious task of wiring it all up. There’s a little wiring behind the panel for grounding and attenuators, then 60 wires to hook up with the boards. I’m not a massive fan of wiring, but it all worked out OK.

Very happy with how it’s turned out. Particularly pleased with how much it looks like what I designed in photoshop!

There is still a minor issue with it, in that only one of the FM inputs is working at the moment. It’s bound to be a soldering problem or a silly mistake.

I did open it back up to take a look, but couldn’t see anything obvious. I only added the FM input as an afterthought, so I’m not worried about it right now. I’ll work it out and fix it later, for now I just want to play with it!
